What to expect

How the night will run.

Check-in

Name tag and your human bingo card, which is a 5x5 grid of traits that will be used as an optional ice-breaker activity. There will be a tear-off slip at the bottom to write your contact info and drop it off with anyone you see potential with!

Welcome

We will explain how the event will be structured. There will be light refreshments available.

Human bingo & game tables

These are optional ice-breaker activities! For human bingo, you'll walk the room and find people that match the traits on the bingo card (e.g., grew up in Lansing or has more than one tattoo) and have them sign your card. We'll also have a few tables set up with Jenga and Connect 4 if you're up for some competition instead.

Bingo winners announced

The host draws winners at random from everyone who's filled out and turned in their sheet by the end of the night. Three winners will get a gift card to a local coffee shop.

Wrapping up

If you connected with someone, tear off the slip at the bottom of your bingo card. Write your name and number, and hand it over to them before you head out.

Code of conduct

Everyone should feel safe here.

We want everyone who comes to a 517 Social event to feel safe, respected, and free to actually meet people. That only works if everyone follows a few basic rules.

Respect people's boundaries. If someone isn't interested, take the hint gracefully and move on.
Harassment isn't tolerated. This includes unwanted touching, persistent unwanted attention, sexual comments, slurs, or anything that makes another guest feel unsafe. One confirmed incident gets you removed from the event immediately, with no refund, and you won't be welcome at future 517 Social events.
Keep it courteous and respectful. Conversations should stay free of offensive, inappropriate, or discriminatory language.
No unauthorized photos or recordings. Don't photograph or record other guests without their permission.
Follow the venue's guidelines. Please respect any rules or instructions set by the venue hosting the event.
Listen to the host. Our host is there to keep the night running smoothly and safely. If they ask you to stop a behavior or step away from a conversation, please comply.
See something, say something. If another guest makes you uncomfortable or you notice concerning behavior, find the host right away. You won't be penalized for reporting in good faith.

By attending a 517 Social event, you agree to these guidelines. We reserve the right to remove anyone who violates them, without a refund.
